Looking for an info on a Frank HUBER. He is my great-great grandfather by blood, by he died in a fishing accident when my great- grandfather was about 3. After the accident my great-great-grandma, Mary PAHL remarried a man named Christ HEMLING and they homesteaded a farm in Westford Township on Dodge County. Our family, however, has little to no information on Frank HUBER. I do believe he and Mary PAHL lived on Hwy. D near South Beaver Dam on the lake.

It is just interesting since my mother's family name is now HEMLING, when it would have been HUBER if Frank would have lived.

Thanks ps...I am joining the society soon...thanks

Looking for the family of Nathan Foster born circa 1813 in an unknown county in New York and settled in Jefferson County prior to 1849. He and his wife Polly (unknown maiden name) had at least six children:Nathan (born c. 1836), Nancy (born c. 1838), Alma (born c. 1840), Goodell(?) (born c. 1842), Edwin Adelbert (born c. 1845) and Jesse (born c. 1849). I found the family in the 1850 Wisconsin census. I have looked in several Jefferson county histories and find references to many Fosters that settled early in the county but I don't know if there is any family connection. I don't know when or where Nathan and Polly Foster died. My ancestor, Edwin Adelbert, migrated to Minnesota and eventually Montana. I am a member of the D/JCGS and would appreciate any clues. I am stuck.

KADING/KAEDING: William Frederick KADING/KAEDING b. 9-Oct-1829, Prussia, Germany m. 9-Jan-1848 in Ger. Maria Sophia Charlotte KOHLR, b. 25-Mar-1826 in Barenwinkel, Prussia, Ger. They sailed from Breman on the "Carl" arriving in New York in 1869 with their family of Frederick, Albert, Augusta and Herman. Settled in Fort Atkinson and the July 1870 Census lists the family in the Twp. of Kirkkenny. By 1879 they had moved to Adair Co., IA. Occupation was farming and probably involved with Lutheran Church, as they were in IA. William's brother, Ferdinand H. KADING also settled in Jefferson Co. and married Henrietta KEMPE, I think in Jefferson Co. in 1870. They too moved to IA. William's oldest son, Frederick KADING married Caroline URBATCH about 1878, I think in Jefferson Co. Did Frederick's second son Albert KADING marry Mathilda Rose SCHMELING in Watertown prior to moving to IA? I'm interested in information regarding the family the ten+ years they resided in or around Watertown and Fort Atkinson.

We found a large old wooden thermometer (about 4 ft. high)when cleaning out a basement. The type at the top was very hard to read, but we believe it says "HACKETT GATES HURTY HOWE CO. WATERTOWN" and at the bottom of the thermometer, it says "Cream City Ware for sale here". We believe it is an antique of some historical value. Do you have any information on a late 19th or early 20th century company of the name HACKETT GATES HURTY HOWE CO. ?

My Civil War vet ancestor Thomas WELSH(WELCH) married Ellen KENNEDY at St. Joe's in Richwood Sept. 1869. He had at least three sisters. Two we know something about. Mary WELSH married Patrick MALONEY in Ohio 1858, but they lived for a time in Watertown during the Civil War years until around 1870-1873 when they moved up to Northern Michigan as did my great-grandfather Thomas WELSH in 1873. The other sister we know about is Honora (Annie) WELSH, she never married, died and buried in Nortern Michigan. Thomas WELSH referred to another sister named Johanna in his Civil War letters, recently moved to Jefferson during the War and married to Thomas. This is all we know of this third sister of our great-grandfather. Any idea of how we might start tracking her down? No, unfortunately we don't have the husband's last name. I plan to start by searching the state census for 1865. Does Jefferson have any city directories for that time period? I know this might be a toughie.

Looking for more info about family of Rev. Nelson GREEN (in 1860 US census page 1011 for Waupun Twp.). His daughter Mary Elizabeth GREEN (born 5/12/1844 in Beaver Dam). She married John Byron GILBERT 10/14/ 1861. They later moved to Illinois and are my great grandparents.

John Byron GILBERT was the son of Henry S. GILBERT who moved from Ontario, NY to Waukesha, WI about 1844. A Henry S. GILBERT appears in the 1855 WI state census for Dodge Co., Hubbard Twp., but I do not have the details. He may have died in Dodge Co.

I am trying to research the History of my Peckham ancestors. I know that George Franklin Peckham married an Emily Rosella Lyons on 2-4-1866 in Aztalan, Jefferson County, I also know that a George Peckham from Milford Jefferson County was listed in in the 1860 WI Census on page 394 Id# WI456146101. I have been unable to look at the census so I do not know if indeed it is the same person. If you have any information on either George Franklin Peckham or Emily Rosella Lyons, I would be thrilled to have it. I need birth dates, parents names, and places of birth or anything. Thank you.

We have the problem of locating a Grace Elizabeth Hamilton ( born 1888 who may have died shortly after 1927 place unknown ). We know her brother Fred lived his later years in Capron, Illinios, and I'm thinking that she might have visited him and died there and is buried nearby. I have searched here in Milwaukee county for her married or dead through 1940, without luck. I know Fred is buried in a Capron cemetery, and I was thinking she might be buried in the county of Boone also - Here is the following - 1. Henry Monroe4 Hamilton (George Washington3, Washington2, Robert1) was born July 04, 1854 in Berkshire Hills, Wales, Mass. // or Curtisville, Mass., and died May 10, 1947 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wi.. He married Mary Elizabeth Jones May 17, 1875 in Berkshire Hills, Wales, Massachusetts, daughter of David Jones and Elizabeth Lloyd.

Children of Henry Hamilton and Mary Jones are:

2. i. Fredrick Terry5 Hamilton, b. January 23, 1876, North Adams, East Long Meadow, Massachusetts; d. March 22, 1945, Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wi. - Mil. Emerg. Hospital.

3. ii. Alida Sadie Hamilton, b. March 04, 1880, Vermont; d. March 25, 1966, Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wi..

iii. Henry David Hamilton, b. October 02, 1881, Mass. ?? // Vermont ??; d. April 06, 1958, Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wi..

iv. Grace Elizabeth Hamilton, b. January 05, 1888, Fon Du Lac, Fon Du Lac, Wi.; d. "Jefferson" // Rock // or Walworth County ??.=============

^^^ This woman is my focus, last found alive in Lake Mills, 1927 through a letter from her parent - then thought dead by 1940 from not being at a family funeral. We know Grace Elizabeth was an organist because she was single, and although we think she is buried in southeastern Wisconsin area, we know she had dealings from counties of - Fon Du Lac, Dodge, Rock, Jefferson, and Milwaukee. as well as that of Capron Illinios by her brother Fred. Then out east New York ( Utica ) by her mother's old area. So we are left in the dark just where she might have died, and further, where she might be buried.

Could you tell me where I might find Wisconsin // and Illinios based cemeteries on the net that would cater to methodists, or those counties I mentioned in which Grace might be inclined to be buried ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time - W. Joyce Smith. history@execpc.com

4. v. Ruth Gladys Hamilton, b. November 12, 1890, Fon Du Lac, Fon Du Lac, Wi.; d. October 22, 1964, Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wi..

A.C. Morgan was in Dodge Cty (Fox Lake) on the 1860 census. Does anyone do lookups? I'm looking for Mary Morgan, his mother, Sylvester Morgan his uncle, and Rachel Lewis, his sister in the same area. on the 1860 census it states that Albert C. was a teamster. Pray tell, what did a teamster do in that era. I'm also interested in the history of Fox Lake around that time. Industries, etc. Muriel
