Is anyone researching a Miss Ella Whiting of RR #2; Jefferson, Wisconsin? I have a postcard which was addressed to her and posted on June 13, 1908.

It is signed by "Ed."

Made especially for E.A. Schweiger, Jefferson.

It has a very nice picture of Main Street buildings, horse and buggy days.

I will share (scan) the message on the back if anyone is researching this family.

According to WI Land Records,my ancestor, Augustus Bixby, purchased land in Dodge Co. in 1848. His eldest son, William Bixby was born in Jefferson County, 24 Dec 1849 ( death records )The 1850 census gives William's mother's name as Arvena. By 1852, Augustus had married for a second time. His second wife was Melia Boeijink. My great-grandfather, John Henry Bixby, was born in Fond du Lac or Jefferson County, 24 May 1852 to Melia Boeijink and Augustus Bixby. Now, my questions: Is there any record of when and where Arvena Bixby died or is buried? Any marriage record for Arvena and Augustus? Any marriage record for Melia and Augustus? ( Her father probably was Hendrik Jan Boeijink of Milwaukee.) Is there a birth record for William Bixby or John H. Bixby? Land records for Augustus Bixby? The family moved on to St. Croix County by 1855. Thanks for your help!! If you find anything on any Boeijinks ( Boink ) or Bixbys, please let me know. I'll be happy o pay the membership fee. Sincerely, Billie Pett/ Colorado

I am looking for any information on John Blinn and his family. John left Ohio about 1854 for Wisconsin. He has been found in the State census index of 1855 and the Federal census index of 1860 in Waterloo Township, Jefferson County, Wisconsin.

It has been reported that one daughter, Julia, was married in Waterloo on November 17, 1864 to Milo S. Thompson and later removed to Ohio. I have thus far been unable to locate any documentation to support this.

John's wife, Caroline Thompson Blinn died while in Wisconsin. We believe that it was around 1865/1867 as John and the family then went to Kansas in 1867.

Any and all information is most appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to give me.

Looking for any information available on my great-grandparents, JOHANN and JOHANNA (JANDREI) GOLDSCHMIDT. The lived in Town of Lebanon from 1869 to 1874. They are shown on the 1870 census without their son and with two mystery children (perhaps an error). They emigrated to the U.S. from Pommern May 1869 with their son (my grandfather) HERMAN GOLDSCHMIDT. Johann was born 1/9/1842, Johanna was born 6/10/1838 and Herman was born 12/11/1868. Two children were born in Lebanon. FRANK on 3/30/1871 and GUSTAVE on 7/20/1873. They were Lutherans. Do you know which church they might have attended? Also, Johann had a relative who lived in the area, whose name I'm desperately trying to find. I'm hoping church records might list him as a baptismal sponsor.

Yesterday I spoke to Mary Tutton, Palmyra, to see if she could search the Palmyra cemetery records to find anyone named WESS, probably born about 1825 and died before 1900.

This morning at my local Family History Center, I searched the pre-1907 death records microfiche for Wisconsin counties and found the following:

JESSIE WESS - Jefferson Co, deathdate: 11/2/1877 GEORGE WESS - Walworth Co, deathdate: 10/12/1879

I realize that Walworth County is not covered by your society and I will follow up on that one. I then called Mrs. Tutton to update her on my find and she told me she turned over my request to the Dodge/Jefferson GS so this e-mail is updating you.

Prior to my find this morning, I did not have any given names, only the surname WESS.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Looking for information on James Schofield his wife Matilda, children: James, Sarah, Miles, Lucey. I have found them in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses in Town of Sullivan, Jefferson County. Lucey is in the 1860 census, gone in 1870 and back in 1880 listed as widowed. She has 5 children including Matilda who will marry a Charles Williams in 1896. I am unable to find out what happened to James and Matilda Schofield and Lucey Schofield Brown. Any help would be appreciated.
